Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor of Visual Arts (open rank). Fields of specialization: Painting and Drawing, and Related Media.

The Visual Arts Program in the School of the Arts at Columbia University seeks to appoint up to two one-year term-appointments in Visual Arts (open rank) for the period July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. 

The program seeks candidates whose work is deeply engaged in the disciplines of painting and/or drawing based in a creative and conceptual practice that evidences a deep understanding of the historical and current theoretical underpinnings of these artistic mediums. 

Artists taking an interdisciplinary approach with painting, drawing, and related media, including installation, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a vibrant studio practice, active professional career, and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students across various disciplines and mediums.

The Visual Arts Program attracts artists working in all forms including drawing, moving image, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and expanded practices. The Program, in association with the Department of Music and the Computer Music Center, also offers an MFA in Sound Art.

Columbia University School of the Arts offers Masters of Fine Arts degrees in four disciplines: Film, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Writing, as well as a Masters of Arts and related undergraduate programs.

Salary range  
Assistant Professor: 103–107K USD / Associate Professor: 115–135K USD / Professor: 140–150K USD.

Qualifications
Minimum degree required: BA. Preferred degree required: Master of Fine Arts or equivalent. Candidates must have demonstrated the capacity for creative work and the accompanying pedagogy.
