The following professorship is to be filled at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) as soon as possible:

Professorship of Relational Design W3 (66 percent, limited up to six years)
The professorship represents the subject area of product design within the Design department, specialising in “Relational Design”. The HfG is looking for an established design personality who is characterised by practice-oriented research and pursues an explicitly transdisciplinary agenda. The ideal candidate embodies a holistic and systemic design approach towards social, environmental and labor processes and a work field that extends beyond the human species.

The tasks of the professorship include:
–Promoting a relational understanding of design that goes beyond the presentation of physical objects and embraces concepts in the form of temporary environments or events
–Incorporating design practices that challenge existing systems and contribute to equitable transformation through changing power structures and forms of ownership
–Interest in the subject area of interspecies relations
–Understanding and communicating of experiences with networks and collaborative processes in design
–Teaching in the area described above
–Commitment to a transdisciplinary way of working
–Willingness to reflect on and address the role of design in promoting just and sustainable change
–Willingness to participate in the self-governance committees is required. Further official duties are regulated in Section 46 of the Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act).

Requirements
–Established and international presence in the design field with a focus on practice-orientated research
–Completed university degree in the field of design or in a related field
–Special pedagogical aptitude and many years of teaching experience in your own discipline and commitment to teamwork
–Knowledge of German and English at university level
–We invite candidates who are willing to engage in design education and research and actively contribute to the development of the field of Relational Design.
